Worsening violence and murder in the Anglophone regions, North West and South West is taking an increasingly heavy toll on civilians documented in recent months, leaving many disheartened.
Armed separatist fighters and government forces have been for the past years committing a widespread of human right abuses, including summary executions and mass killings across Cameroon’s Anglophone regions. The Cameroon government has been restricting freedom of expression and association has become increasingly intolerant of political dissent. Civilians can barely move around freely in their own home town. Both separatist fighters and government forces are turning against civilians but the question on the lips of many is if the fight was against civilians or the fight for independence?
