BILATERAL COOPERATION:CAMEROON/CONGO BORDER DEMARCATION MEETING KICKS OFF IN YAOUNDE.
Under the supervision of the Minister of Territorial Administration, Mr Atanga Nji Paul,experts from Cameroon and Congo have begun retracing the close to 500km land boundaries of the two countries. The first meeting of the technical sub committee for the demarcation and reaffirmation of the Cameroon/Congo border opened at the Yaounde Starland Hotel today August 30, 2022 during which delegations from both countries made the commitment to redefine cross border boundaries.
At the opening of the meeting, the head of the Congolese delegation Jacques Essissongo said redemarcating the boundary is premodial for peaceful coexistence and good neighborliness of the two nations. In the same light, Cameroon’s Minister of Territorial Administration Atanga Nji Paul highlighted that field work shall be carried out to re-establish the borders long demarcated by colonial masters which are hitherto becoming invisible. Experts from the two countries will be going to the field to Ntam a border town to begin the exercise, that will last till 5th September 2022.
