SECURITY:CAMEROON FASTEN BILATERAL MILITARY COOPERATION WITH CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC.
The Minister Delegate at the Presidency in Charge of Defence, Beti Assomo Joseph on June 16, 2022 granted audience to the Minister of National Defence and Reconstruction of the Army in the Central African Republic, Rameaux Claude Bireau.
The audience that lasted for close to an hour behind closed doors, Rameaux Claude Bireau revealed that, their discussion centered on the bilateral military cooperation that exist between the Central African Republic and Cameroon most especially in the area of peace keeping where contingents of Cameroonian soldiers are deployed time and again under the banner of the Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA).
The officials also revisited the security situation that prevails along the common borders which is characterized by multiplicity of acts of banditry, infiltrations of armed gangs, attacks by highway robbers, arms and ammunition trafficking and the illicit exploitation of natural resources, all of which have been observed to create repeated incidents linked to misunderstandings between the two brotherly nations.
This audience which is an initiative of the two Heads of States, Faustin-Archange Touadera and Paul Biya is a means to foster and fasten the bilateral military cooperation that exist between the Central African Republic and Cameroon in the domain of military partnership and a concerted action to protect their common borders.
It should be recalled that, this audience comes on the heels of the 5th session of the Adhoc border commission and the 2nd session of a permanent security mix commission which held from the 12th to the 16th of June 2022.
